I just read your blog about your ongoing battle with your achilles. It was if you were in my head because what you wrote is so right on. I am a marathon runner turned tri-athlete who has been injured going on 2 years now. Like you, I have tried everything - PT, ice, heat and, the hardest thing of all, rest. I wore a walking boot for over 6 months and was in a cast and on crutches for almost 3 months. Nothing seems to work. I have had moments where I think I am better . . . only to wake up the next day in pain. Sometimes I wonder if I am crazy?! I am also guilty of probably trying to do too much, too soon. But, compared to my normal activity level, I don't think it's too much to walk my dogs! I feel like I am never going to run again. I am frustrated and don't know what to do? My mom, who is 53 recently (late January) had surgery to repair her achilles tendon and she is practically 100% now. I have done everything to avoid surgery and all I have to show for it is a purple, swollen and throbbing tendon - go figure? Any thoughts?
