wed: the wheels are falling off this "no days off from running." i'm gonna try and make it through the week (so that i can say i did this for one full month) but my body just doesn't feel good w/o a day off. i am missing my bike. this full commitment to just running is boring and it hurts! i must have ADD. i am such a whiner.

sat: almost made it one full month of running every day. i intended to run on saturday but the odds were against me..

thurs: 5+ am

i wonder why i bother to post stuff on this page but then i figure that it provides some level of entertainment to some of my friends (and probably my mom) who are really, really bored and have exhausted all their efforts already reading other online blogs and logs. running a lot (for me) and i will try and keep it consistent for the winter months. running gives me the ability to eat endlessly and not gain weight so, with the holidays upon us, it's nice to be 5 lbs under than what i am usually at around this time of the year. rob and i have one more tri in on november 8. we picked it because of its locale—catalina island, and not because we wanted to be competitive. we're tired of our road bikes and pull buoys. depending on how the stock market does for us, we may purchase some mountain bikes and start hitting the trails.

week of 10/13       total : 47 miles
mon: nada
tues: 5 mi am; 7+ mi pm (ankle hurt during warm up)
wed: 4 mi trail (ankle)
thurs: 5 mi am; 4 mi pm
fri: 3 hrs bike am; 1 mi run
sat: 10+ mi trail (more like 2 5-mi runs because rob wanted to stop at the turnaround for 20 min and take in the view); ankle still bothersome for 1st 20 min
sun: 10 mi trail; 1000 yd swim; weights; ankle/knee bothersome during warm up

gosh, so much has happened since may. besides living the nightmare of renting a foreclosure in tampa, rob and his friends all got laid off. ok, not "all" of them but 4 were victims. fortunately, rob had an offer out of "the oc" that was re-offered after he turned it down in january. so, we told the irresponsible homeowner to take a hike and moved out to trabuco canyon. at first we thought we were going to live in mission viejo but once we saw the trails in trabuco canyon, we decided to lease a home out here instead. i think locals think we live out in the boonies (what tampa folks probably think of "new tampa."). but, man, we are so glad we're out here now and we can't see ourselves living any where else.

riding up and down santiago and silverado canyon was pretty consistent until the 3rd week of september (the long beach sprint). there's been a race every weekend since then so rob and i couldn't help but blow off the long rides that we should have been doing (scratch that—"he" should have been doing). now, here it is in the middle of october and we really just want to gel.

nicole, however, started 5 am practices the first week of october. when i dropped her off at the pool, she was like a zombie but managed to make it through her first morning practice. i felt so bad for her and going back to bed after i dropped her off was not an option for me. if she is going to suffer this early, i should too so i decided to get a run in while she is swims in the dark.

May

i managed to get on the bike practically every day since the beginning of may. there were two mornings when my ass was so sore from the ride the day before that caused lost saddle time. those rest days actually made me want to ride my bike even more. i also managed to get my bike buddy to start riding with me in the hills again. he is always willing to show me the correct technique for ascending an incline and i am always so very grateful for a good friend.

late-March

being on a schedule is just too boring for me. i honestly tried to be consistent but i just couldn't do it. i enjoy meeting linda for swimming a few times a week but other than that, i just want to go when i feel like it. since i am not planning on doing an races other than st. a's and a few local tris, i guess it doesn't matter, does it?

February 4- 10

i 'm a bit worried about the 15k on sat. i know i can finish but i haven't put in any kind of "race-pace" effort in 4 mos. i am hoping the wind won't be bad and that i'll enjoy just being part of the event. i'm very excited for rob. it's been a good 7 wks of solid 40+ mi for him. he definitely deserves an injury-free running season.
