Howdy, welcome to the page of the only one who is sane in the Skaggs family.  Unlike my mom, dad and older sister, I do not enjoy sitting through long, long swim meets or Ironman triathlons. And, as for Renee, she is just a typical annoying little sister. My parents are always nagging at me to be nice to her but it's easier said than done. Okay, she's alright some of the time. Anyway, I am a normal 4th-grade boy who enjoys "normal" stuff like Game Boys, watching Sponge Bob and hanging out with my friends. I also love surfing and swimming although I don't swim 100 hours a day like Nicole at "Death Camp." That's just insane, don't ya' think?

Significant events that happened around the world during 1997 (the year I was born):

  • NASA's Mars Pathfinder space probe lands on Mars in the Area Vallis region, releasing an automated six-wheeled, solar-powered "rover" named Sojourner, which travels the surface during the day, reporting on Martian geology.

  • TiVo, Inc. is founded to introduce the digital video recorder into people's homes.

  • Madeleine Albright becomes the first female secretary of state after confirmation by the United States Senate.

  • The Yamanashi Maglev Test Line opens in Japan. Trains soon exceed speeds of 300 mph in test runs along 26.5 miles of track.

  • O. J. Simpson is found in civil court to be liable for the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. Simpson is ordered to pay $35,000,000 in damages to the families of the two victims.

  • The United Kingdom hands sovereignty of Hong Kong to the People's Republic of China.
