Stabbing pain in left knee.  Two sore achilles tendons and a left elbow swollen the size of a large lemon due to bursitis.  Just another training week in the life of yours truly.

Week of March 13

I got the stink-race out of the way for 2006.  My watch said 15:3ish.  Official clock said 16:06 at the time trial last Saturday.  I think everyone's time was off by 30 sec.  So, my placing would be unchanged.  This race was as bad as St. A's in 2003.  Oh well, they do come along once in a while.  Best to get them out of the way early.

It's been a busy week.  No time to train.

My back is against the wall - need to start running since race season is only a month away.  Missed a couple of rides during the week - mostly due to laziness and work fatigue.  Have to load up on the weekend which I typically don't like to do.  Consistency is key.  Not an ideal set up for a time trial, either.

I blew off all swimming during the weekend.  It's warming up and the YMCA pool is turning nasty again.  So, I have little incentive to go there.  Our pool is still a bit chilly for the Fastlane, but I'm sure I'll be giving it a go by the end of next week.

Will try to have a relatively big cycling week....[6 days later] Hey, I had a relatively big cycling week.  I even started running again which is groovy.  Methinks things are looking up.  Nothing but blue skies and dandelions ahead.

Week of February 20

I was supposed to start running in earnest this week.  Tendons said otherwise.  I felt ok after running Thursday.  So, I tried it again on Friday.  No pain during the run, but it smarted afterwards.  I was hurting pretty bad all day Saturday.  Even had to cut my long ride by an hour.  Sunday comes along and my feet don't hurt so much.  Go figure.  Some days - agony.  Other days - bliss.  Some runs - pain.  Other runs - hope.  Just like life.  

I've reached the conclusion that it's unlikely my running will improve and very likely that it will be a great limiter.  So, I'll compensate by swimming and cycling as much as I can.  Hopefully, things will balance out.  Funny how I used to despise swimming.  Now, I love it.
